Nursery Manager - Wolverhampton

Smile Education is currently supporting a vibrant and family orientated nursery based in Wolverhampton who are looking to appoint a nursery manager to start July 2018 through to December with the potential of going permanent for the right candidates.

The nursery is looking for the successful candidate to have significant managerial/supervisory experience in childcare and a sound knowledge and understanding of child development Birth - 5 years along with:

  • A level 3 qualification in childcare/early years.
  • Recent continuing professional development would be an advantage but not essential.
  • A current first aid certificate is also required.
  • Applicants should have the ability to convey confidence to staff, visitors, parents and other professions entering the Nursery.
  • The ability to work in a team and provide team leadership, be an effective communicator, possess good interpersonal and administrative skills, are also essential.

Within the role you will be responsible for:

  • nursery budgets, keeping records of all expenditure and ensuring compliance financial systems and procedures.
  • To ensure that a high standard of childcare is provided at all times within the Nursery, by supervising nursery staff, delegating where needed and encouraging team work.
  • The daily supervision of all nursery staff, children and students on placement within the nursery.
  • Ensuring that the nursery facilities are adequately publicised and the nursery web pages are kept up to date.
  • To ensure that Ofsted statutory guidance is met at all times.
  • To ensure that the nursery is kept in a secure, clean, presentable and hygienic condition and that the nursery staff provide a high standard of childcare practice.
  • To ensure that all daily routines/rotas are carried out by staff, encouraging the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of children via structured activities.
  • To maintain staffing ratios of children to adults, in accordance with legislation.
  • To ensure that all meals provided are healthy and nutritious.? Cater for children?s individual needs and are prepared and served in accordance with Food Safety regulations.
  • To assist in the selection, recruitment and discipline of staff.
  • To facilitate monthly staff meetings.
  • Ensuring children?s records are kept up-to-date and confidentiality is maintained.
  • To maximise funding available from the Local Authority and create a sustainable business.
  • The organising and recording of staff and parental meetings on a quarterly basis.
  • Ensuring all nursery policies and procedures are reviewed and updated as appropriate.
  • To arrange appropriate training for staff.
  • To undertake administrative duties.
