Protocol education are currently looking for a Mental Health Support Assistant to work in a secondary school in the borough of Southwark located close to South Bermondsey and Queens Road Stations. In this role your duties will entail providing mental health support for young adults who have a variety of mental health needs, some of which may be social and emotional needs and behavioural challenges.

The Vital aim of this school is to provide support to each student to feel comfortable and safe so that they can re-engage in the educational process This position would require someone who enjoys working with disaffected teens and believes that everyone is entitled to an education. The school takes an all-inclusive approach to education placing an emphasis on individualised curriculum and social development through their therapeutic methods of engaging with the students.

This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2020/2021 academic school year, with a competitive salary.

To be suitable for this role:

? You will need to be able to build strong positive working relationships with pupils.
? Good behaviour management.
? Experience working with challenging children who have SEMH needs.
? To be able to assist with the development and implementation of Mental Health Plans.

Experience required for this role:

? Experience of working with young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and/or challenging behaviour.
? An ability to understand the principles of learning process and barriers to learning.
? Working with children for at least 6 months in the last 2 years in Mental Health role.
