Protocol Education are wroking along side a School in Bristol to help recruit for a support member of staff to lead literacy intervention. The School itself is a fantastic place to work with supportive senior leadership team.

The role is as follows:

looking for a temporary Literacy Intervention Lead to help us out on an ongoing basis. This is a support staff role, working 5 days a week at 35 hours so hours are -8.30 16.00 daily.

The aim of the job is to deliver intervention teaching, in a small group and 1:1 settings, to ensure effective student learning in the subject and to achieve excellent results for the students. Someone who has had this experience or as a learning mentor and is confident running lessons would be suited.

The responsibilities are as follows:

  1. To plan, resource and deliver inspiring intervention lessons that focus on securing high levels of understanding of relevant subject content and application in preparation for GCSE examinations retakes.
  2. Liaise as appropriate with Directors of Faculty, classroom teachers and parents/carers to maximise progress for students
  3. Focus interventions strategically on gaps in student knowledge, through effective liaison with class teachers and analysis of exam data
  4. Provide timely, accurate and meaningful feedback for students and their parents/carers
  5. To provide a nurturing and stimulating classroom and college environment that helps students to develop as learners
  6. To maintain/establish positive behaviour for learning across the whole college
  7. To contribute to the effective working of the college
  8. To support students in the acquisition and development of learning dispositions and positive character traits
  9. To be accountable for progress and attainment levels of students in their intervention groups.
  10. Participate in attending to student's personal needs including intimate care (toileting, hygiene, dressing and eating) as well as help with social, emotional, welfare and health matters for identified students.
