Teaching Assistant: Key Stage 3 and 4

A popular school in Brighton are now looking to recruit an experienced Teaching Assistant to start in as soon as possible. The position involves working with children in the SEN department, with a particular focus on those with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. You will also support the classroom teacher with general day-to-day duties, working with students with challenging behaviour and assisting with the development of Imps and Personal Care programmes. You must have relevant recent experience of working with children in the 11 - 16 age range, preferably in a state secondary environment. NVQ Level 2 is preferred but not essential.

The school is an 11-18 Comprehensive School with approx. 1728 students on role. It is based on two sites and provides for students from year 7 - year 13. The post advertised is for part-time cover during term times only.

    The school are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant with strong behaviour management skills. You will need to be patient and enthusiastic in your approach and have a genuine interest and experience of working with young people with special education needs.

    The ideal candidate will have:
  • proven solid experience working with Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils
  • strong SEN and EBD experience
  • a sound ability to use ICT in a classroom environment 
  • a flexible and adaptable approach to your role
  • excellent team skills
  • a sound ability to use your own initiative
