Smile Leadership are currently representing an East Midlands based group of alternative provisions in their journey of growth. We are currently seeking an experienced Deputy Headteacher to appoint on a permanent basis. All applications are being handled exclusively by Smile Leadership and a tour of the setting can be arranged and is encouraged prior to formal interviews.

The settings offer one to one, small group and vocational courses delivered across a range of hubs in the East Midlands. Typically, class sizes range from 10-12, with around 50 pupils on role. The cater for a range of ages from KS2 to post 16. They take a holistic and precise approach to their learners? needs. Building a team around each child in their care, they work collaboratively with each stakeholder to effect change. Each programme is evaluated for impact and managed against the specification agreed with the commissioning body. They have developed many leading edge systems and processes for working with children and young people across a wide range of facilities and community venues.

For this job, the group wish to appoint an experienced candidate who is able to hit the ground running in a period of rapid growth. The setting are planning on opening a new school site for up to 50 pupils where you will work alongside the Executive Headteacher in a leadership partnership. Successful applicants must have recent senior leadership experience within an alternative provision setting, although candidates with considerable SEN experience in a mainstream school or alternative SEN setting will also be considered. Aspiring Assistant Headteachers who wish to take the next step are also encouraged to apply.

To be considered for this post, you should have/be:

Experience as either a Head of School or Deputy Headteacher within either an SEMH or ASD setting
Exceptionally enthusiastic
Able to communicate effectively and build relationships with staff, pupils and parents
Committed to developing a positive, enthusiastic learning culture for all staff
Resilient and emotionally intelligent
