School Business Manager Job We are currently working with a Secondary School in Warwick who require a suitable experienced Business Manager or Bursar on an interim basis. Main responsibilities for this role are as follows: - Budget monitoring and planning;
- Premises – maintenance, repair and contractors;
- Facilities management;
- Managing non-teaching support staff team;
- Managing contract services;
- Liaising with Governing Body and outside agencies;
Key Experience/Skills - Experience of working in a similar role in an education environment is essential;
- Good working knowledge of SIMS;
- Ability to manage a team;
- Good organisational and communication skills;
- Ability to use own initiative;
- Experience of monitoring and planning budgets.
- management of all financial and budgetary functions of the school.
- Manage all aspects of insurance including reviewing risks, advising on insurance matters,
negotiating with insurers, etc. - Develop, implement and keep under review procedures relating to Financial Administration, Health and Safety, Security and Safeguarding including assessing the need to respond to demands arising from changes in legislation or new policy.
- Manage and deploy the work of the Finance Team, Caretakers, Groundsman, and Cleaners and organise/lead training where appropriate.
- Preparation and presentation of reports and spreadsheets for the effective servicing of meetings of the Governing Body, its associated Committees and Leadership Team.
- Identify additional sources of income and prepare bids for grant aid on agreed projects.
- Undertake research, evaluation and preparation of statistical information related to specific
projects, commercial activities and resource development. - Manage, develop and monitor the community use of the school in consultation with the
Community Co-ordinator. - Advise the Governing Body on appropriate charging rates and subsequently establish and agree payment with organisations using the site.
- Organise and monitor the spending of budgets as required by the Finance and Premises
Committee and Leadership Team. - Liaison with the LA’s Capital Team concerning capital projects on the site. Liaison with contractors and monitoring of all work on the premises.
- Take a lead role in preparing the school for the Capital Programme in the proposed BSF Follow on Wave.
- Manage contracted services, and negotiation of renewable contracts such as cyclic maintenance, photocopying, catering, telephones and SLAs.
- Manage the spending of Departmental Budgets and hold regular Budget Meetings with Heads of Department and other budget holders.

- Be able to handle a very extensive work load with calmness and good humour, and be able to cope with stress and stressful situations. Experience of a similar role (particularly within an educational environment) and a recent Enhanced CRB will be advantageous.
