College Support Worker - Wokingham

Protocol Education are recruiting on behalf of a special school and residential home in Bracknell and Reading. The role is term time only for a permanent contract full time.

Role overview
? To support each child/ young person to maintain safe and appropriate relationships within the college environment (either via direct supervision or through encouraging discussion - as directed by the Home Manager and College Safeguarding Team).
? To supervise each child/ young person within the classroom, practical session or work experience setting.
? To support each child/ young person to arrange college finances, bursaries etc., and to pay for equipment or trips.
? To supervise each child/ young person travelling to and from college as required.
? To support each child/ young person to complete homework/ course work on days off or during study time.
? To value and nurture each child/ young person as an individual with talents, strengths and abilities that can develop over time.
? To take an interest in all aspects of the young persons life and well-being; and to ensure, with guidance from the Home Manager, that individualised needs are met.
? To treat each child/ young person with dignity and respect.
? To promote the health and well-being of each child/ young person.
? To help each child/ young person to express his views, wishes and feelings.
? To advocate for each child/ young person when needed.
? To contribute to and work in accordance with each child/ young persons Placement Plan.
? To support each child/ young persons therapy programme (facilitating appointments, assisting with homework, encouraging discussions, and practising therapeutic strategies as required).

  • To support young people to enjoy and achieve at college, at home, at work and within the local community.

Please note: We undertake safeguarding checks on all our workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education'. As part of these checks, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in schools. If you do not have a valid subscription to the DBS Update Service, we will require you to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process, at a cost of £44.00.
