Smile Education are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a Special Educational Needs school in Wolverhampton on a full-time basis for a full year. You will be required to work alongside specialist staff within the school to provide the best care and support for each individual child.

This school provides special facilities to care for the children and their individual needs. The children are aged between 2 and 11 and have a range of special needs, ranging from learning disabilities and challenging behaviour to autism. This school supports children whose needs cannot be met in a mainstream school.

You will be required to:

  • Provide an inclusive education for each individual
  • Inspire each child to learn and achieve their full potential
  • Value each child to encourage them to grow as an individual
  • Ensure a safe and caring environment for all
  • Encourage children interact with the wider community
  • Welcome involvement from parents and other professionals
  • Provide a stimulating environment to motivate each individual

You will be required to follow the children?s Individual Education Plan (IEP) to ensure their personal educational need are met. Although the children have access to the National Curriculum, they benefit from other curriculum's and approaches offered int eh school which you will need to follow. These include:

  • Developing interaction skills
  • Using multi-sensory approaches
  • Different Speech and Language skills

To be considered for this role, you must be a people-centred person who is empathetic and considerate of each child?s individual needs. You must be able to support each child and cooperate with other staff members to ensure the environment is a safe and happy one.
