Notes

I completed my degree in English Studies and I became fascinated by the language and its culture. As part of my degree, I completed a year at the University of Cardiff as part of the European Erasmus Programme. I highly enjoyed that experience as I could discover a new culture and improve my language skills.

After that, I moved back to Spain and I completed my Postgraduate Teaching Certificate in secondary school. During that period I completed an internship in the school where I started to work with one year later.

Last year, I moved to London to study a MA in Audiovisual Translation. I was also involved in giving private tuition but I decided to return to full time teaching, drawing on my experience in business and applying it in the classroom. At the moment I am working as a teacher assistant in the modern languages department in a secondary school where I am learning more about the British educational system.

My expectations of students are high in terms of behaviour and academic achievement and I consider that parental involvement is an important key to successful teaching and learning. I ensure that parents are informed of their children’s progress and feel part of the educational process.

As a native Spanish teacher from Valencia, I often draw on my Spanish background to enhance the cultural awareness of my students. I like using a variety of teaching strategies to motivate the classes whilst showing them how to enjoy the learning. Apart from the Spanish I can also teach Italian until year 8 and French at year 7.

I consider myself to be an enthusiastic practitioner who is keen to take on board new techniques and ideas to further enrich my teaching. I am confident, I will be an asset to your department and I will support its members and I will get involved in the whole school events activities. I think it is vital to have a strong department but also I think it is important to interact with others so that cross-curricular opportunities are maximised and learning is broad and inter-related.
Please contact me at your convenience to set up a meeting so that we may discuss in greater detail how my qualifications would best meet the needs of your educational program. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours faithfully,

(name removed) Ruiz
