Notes

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am interested in working in secondary education as a Teaching Assistant and have attached my CV. I have just graduated from University of Birmingham with a 2:1 in History and American and Canadian Studies, and am looking for a permanent job based in a school in Birmingham.

I have experience of working in an educational environment through the School Experience Programme, which has provided me the opportunity to observe teaching and classroom activities, talk to teachers about their day-to-day tasks, and gain a real insight into teaching and learning. Additionally, I have experience of working with children from my previous job at Coes in Ipswich, where I worked on the school uniform department to supply uniforms to many children attending schools in the area. This gave me the opportunity to work in a one-on-one environment with both children and parents, and create good relationships with both. The job required me to stay calm under pressure, often requiring me to accommodate a number of children and parents at one time, whilst striving to achieve the best service for the customer.

My passion for education and long-term ambition to work with children began as early as year 9 when I was actively involved in the Carnegie Club at my school, which involved visiting a variety of local primary schools and discussing books, as well as helping pupils with their literary skills. My time in university has also given me many skills in a number of different areas. Through my studies at university both in England and in the United States, I gained certain organizational skills which gave me the ability to meet deadlines in both countries, juggling both my university workload as well as paid employment. These organizational skills were critical in carrying this out whilst working to a high standard. My degree in History required the ability to conduct detailed research, along with critical reasoning and analytical skills, and the ability to solve problems and think creatively. I believe these skills would be perfect for the role. Furthermore, I am ambitious, enthusiastic, and focused, and I have the determination to succeed in whichever role I take.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. Should you require any further information, I will be more than happy to provide this.

Yours faithfully,
