Notes

Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing to apply for the position of teaching assistant as posted on greateducation.co.uk.
I am a native speaker of Hungarian and a qualified teacher of English and French. My previous jobs include 12 years as a teacher of English and 6 years as a teacher trainer in the same state high school in Hungary. The students I teach are mostly Hungarian, aged 14-18 with some international exchange students occasionally.
Sagvari Grammar School is one of the most prestigious high schools of the country, and it also functions as a training centre for ELT undergraduates. For the past 6 years I have mentored student teachers, which involved sharing practice with candidates, analysing observed lessons, planning lessons collaboratively, carrying out observations of candidates’ lessons and giving them constructive feedback. I have found the job very rewarding and exciting as it has given me the chance to practise teaching and to reflect on practice at the same time.
I also have experience in teaching adults. Ever since my graduation, I have been teaching evening classes mostly of English (both Business and General English) and occasionally of French to adults in language schools. This has given me the opportunity to see how the needs, interests and difficulties in language learning are different for adults from what they are for teenagers.
Throughout my career I have always shown a keen interest in ICT. In view of the fact that technology-assisted teaching is moving more and more to the foreground, I have been eager to learn about the latest developments in ICT and have attended relevant training courses every year in the past 3 years.
I am a fast learner and an efficient problem solver. I have a strong sense of urgency and respond well to change and pressure. I am at my best when it comes to teaching: the passion I have for my profession lends me a goal-oriented perfectionist attitude combined with a natural tendency to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere in class. I am strongly commended for my interpersonal skills. The ability to identify and understand other people’s needs is one of my strengths. I am a confident and articulate communicator. In addition to the above, I am computer literate and have a working knowledge of Italian.
Working for your language school would be an exhilarating new experience for me and I would be ready to relocate as soon as the school year ends here. (15 June 2012) I firmly believe that my linguistic competence, vast experience in language teaching and in dealing with teenagers are all well-suited to the position advertised.

I am enclosing my CV with this letter. Thank you for considering my application. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.
Yours faithfully,
(name removed)
